When de Gournay was founded, we purely specialised in reproducing 18th Century Chinese wallpapers, using all of the same techniques and materials as were employed originally. Over the years we have developed more intrepid and contemporary designs, so it has been delightful that this project at Belvoir Castle has brought us back to our roots. It has been incredibly special to faithfully recreate the wallpaper in as beautiful a manner as it would have been in the late 1700’s, and knowing that the Howard Room will be enjoyed for hundreds of years to come by inhabitants and guests of the Castle, and that the wallpaper will age and grow more beautiful with time is a wonderful feeling.
