The most distant planet in our solar system... Our James Webb Space Telescope (@nasawebb) captured the clearest view of Neptune's rings in 30 years. Voyager 2 was the first spacecraft to observe Neptune up close during its flyby in 1989, but this Webb image also clearly shows Neptune’s fainter dust bands. Webb was able to get the shot using the Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), which images objects in the near-infrared range from 0.6 to 5 microns.
