#stitch with @hermes.the.cynic one of the fascinating things about neoteny, which is understood as the retention of juvenile traits into maturity is that specifically for humans, the way it functions for us is due to the advantage it provided for our ancestors differentiating tremendously from nonhuman primates, which results in us experiencing a biological delay in our development. . Now you might be thinking why does that happen? Well because it gives us a prolongation to experience childhood maximizing our neural plasticity and increasing our capacity to learn and remember things. It’s theorized this advantageous characteristic is responsible for the increase in our brain size exponentially throughout human evolution. I’m all for people using science to explain how the world works, but selectively choosing pieces of information and presenting it in a vague manner without a full context only causes more misinformation in the world. . Synthesizing the complexity of human society requires an understanding of biology, sociology, history, and socioeconomics to have a full understanding of the picture. As always, stay curious! ##AXERatioChallenge##fyp##fypシ##scientist##ecologist##thoughts##think##facts##stem##biologist##neurodivergent##people##human##stress##economy##aging##teach##edutok##listen##read##scicomm##educate##science
