In the dining room at @nobubarcelona, a kintsugi-inspired ceiling has suspended live-edge walnut panels with gold “cracks”, creating an abstract and exaggerated riff on the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and powdered metals. Over the bar area, the kintsugi pattern shifts to a small-scale tile that nods to Antoni Gaudi’s trencadís mosaics found throughout the city. We worked with our long-time collaborator, Canadian ceramic artist @pascalegirardin, who created several art installations at Nobu Downtown, including dozens of sake vessels, a ceramic mural, and hand-glazed tiles to create a monumental sculptural column that visually connects the bar and the ceiling. 📸: @ricardolabougle
