From 30 lb Rainbow Trout to every species of Pacific Salmon, Bristol Bay, Alaska is considered one of the premier sportfishing destinations in the world. Anglers have galvanized around campaigns to stop Pebble Mine, a proposed open pit copper and gold mine located at the headwaters of Bristol Bay, from moving forward. Bristol Bay is the largest wild salmon fishery on earth, accounting for over half of the world’s annual sockeye salmon harvest. 2022 was a record year for sockeye in Bristol Bay with 69.7 million salmon returning to their home waters this summer. Wildtype believes that preserving our existing sustainable fisheries as well as pursuing new sources of seafood like cellular agriculture are both critical to global food security. Wildtype is supporting The Conservation Funds’s effort to secure 44,000 acres of conservation easements that will block a critical access route to Pebble Mine. Help us protect the world’s largest salmon fishery. This project will benefit the Pedro Bay Corporation, an Alaska Native village. We’re matching the first $10,000! conservationfund.org/wildtype
