Peroneal tendonitis is a very common running injury, but what can you do about it?? We’re here to tell you!!
Muscle scraping is an effective treatment for stiffness, pain, and dysfunction of chronic soft tissue injuries. To make sure that you’re hitting the entirety of the peroneal muscles, scrape down the outside of your lower leg, around the ankle, and along the side of your foot.
Peroneal tendonitis is often caused by instability of the ankle joint which leads to overworking of the muscles and rubbing of the tendons against the ankle bone. Strengthening the muscles around the ankle promotes stability therefore preventing/treating this type of injury.
Stretching is also important for reducing excess stiffness caused by soft tissue injuries. Stretch after doing your exercises, or anytime throughout the day that you feel that tension building up.
