REAL skin isn’t perfect skin ⬇️ This is the state of my skin right now. I contemplated on even posting this because my skin has truly gotten the best of me this past week. I’ve been embarrassed. I’ve been sad. I’ve been in pain. But hiding the fact that my skin STILL has bad days would be a disservice to myself & this community. For years, social media has been LACKING when it comes to showing real skin. All we would see was photoshopped skin & filters. Thankfully, we have come a long way thanks to skinfluencers, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Acne is just as much of a mental battle as it is physical. So rather than keeping these photos of my skin that I took last night in my camera roll, I want to share them with you so that when you’re having a bad skin day, you can come back to this post & remind yourself that you are not alone! It’s not easy to share my imperfect skin for thousands & thousands of people to see, but I do it for those who need to see it. All it can take is ONE person to make a difference in someone’s life & if I can be that person for even one of you, then this has all been worth it. “56.1% of acne patients in one study had comorbid anxiety, depression, or suicidal ideation” Over the past few months, my acne has drastically improved thanks to @thedallasaesthetician who personalized a skincare regimen just for me! Savanna has been my esthetician since April & she has truly changed my life. I’ve shared my regimen countless times & I’ve showed you guys how much my skin has improved. So to go from posting my clear & thriving skin to posting this today, feels like I’ve taken 1 step forward & 3 steps back. I’ve been beating myself up over it & I feel like I’ve let myself, Savanna & you guys down. But truthfully, this is just the reality of having acne prone skin. I will NEVER have perfect skin no matter what skincare or treatment I’m using. Acne has a mind of its own & skin fluctuations are normal! The needs of our skin change every single day. What once worked, doesn’t mean it will continue to work. Savanna is making some tweaks to my regimen & I’m excited to share the progress 🤍 #acne #acnejourney #skin
