A close friend of my father’s wrote to me saying it’s shocking he’s gone because he seemed so permanent. He did. I guess there’s comfort in knowing that everything is impermanent. What a legend he was! He had an immense presence, he personified generosity and style, and he looked at me the way he did in picture #3 up until we said goodbye. We used to walk through his old neighborhood and everyone we passed lit up when they saw him, “MISHAAAAAAA!!!!” Literally everyone knew his name and beamed at the sight of his face. He was magnetic. How cool to have a father like that. I love you so much! What I learned from him: Don’t take ANYTHING for granted! Not even a shower. Use good soap!! Wash your hair! Or at least wear a nice hat. Live your fullest life! Eat well! Tell your stories! Share what you have with people you love! What else is there? Nothing is permanent, so enjoy it. I’m so grateful. I love you and I miss you, Misha.
