As a child of the 80s, the work of Olivia Newton John in films such as Grease and Xanadu and her voice in her many hit songs was a defining presence of my growing up. Total Crush-Ville. When my wife and I first met, we spoke on the phone for a month while I was in Europe before we had a first date. When I was finally state side, I set up plans for her to fly out to Boston and meet up with me BUT I had somehow not set up a car from the airport (I was used to people doing it for ME). Luckily, when she was at the airport looking beautiful, fashionable and stranded, it was Olivia, who was in town for the same function I was, who wound up taking Mari, a stranger, from the airport to the hotel that we were all staying at.
