PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING ⚠️ FLASHING IMAGES
Headphones recommended 🎧 (or turn your phone sideways for stereo)
It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve started my journey as a music photographer, so I’ve been digging through a decade’s worth of hard drives and making decisions on what to do with all of it. Perhaps to make a book sharing my photographic journey? Maybe. Until then, here’s an art series I’m working on — this particular one paying close attention to my guitar obsession 🎸
WHAT YOURE LOOKING AT 👀:
A series of photos that I’ve taken (from 2013-2022) of the guitars of several musicians. Stabilized at the fretboard, and placed in order rotating around the angle of the guitar.
WHAT YOURE LISTENING TO 🎧:
Music that I’ve created and recorded at home specifically for this post. Being able to say I’ve taken photos of guitars nonstop for 10 years and made a whole ass career from it is def something worth celebrating. So I wanted to create music that felt like a celebration of 10 years of standing inches away from other people’s amps, hypnotized enough by all of it to keep doing it despite the perpetual ringing in my ears. An ascension into the heavens. The music is inspired by one of my all-time favorite guitarists and biggest inspirations, Kevin Shields. There might be a hint of some Brian Eno-inspired shit too mixed in there too. Lots of intentionally hidden notes and breathing guitars.
BONUS ACTIVITY 🎰:
Take a screenshot at any point in this video and share on your story which guitar (tag me) you got and I’ll tell you who the artist is! Double points if you can guess them before I tell you
