Have you noticed the new Ozempic ads at the national bank open? Associating high level sports with prescription weight loss drugs just does not sit well with me. Tennis is THE healthiest sport you can play. We literally have studies showing it can help extend life by up to 10 years. Isn’t that the perfect message to share with everyone who’s looking to make healthy changes to their life? At this point off label use of ozempic is so off the charts, that individuals who really need this medication are struggling to get access to it. Western culture is obsessed with finding quick solutions to weight loss and of course, even off label use can be life altering for many people. And I support that. But to advertise it at a sporting event just doesn’t sit right with me. The focus should be encouraging everyone to get out there and play. Not reminding folks about injections to lose weight. And for women and young girls especially who are literally 24/7 inundated with messaging to lose weight, I find this to be an inappropriate sponsor of women’s sports as it’s a medication that’s become widely associated with losing weight more than anything else. Let me know what you guys think! —— #tennis #tenniscanada #ozempic
