The Magical World of....Murphy! Throwing it back to our trip to Disney earlier this year when our hotel room transformed to accommodate the four of us plus both the grandmas with 2 very cool Murphy beds. Huge hit with the kids! . Murphy beds are a great option to add flexible functionality to your space. Maybe your guest room has become a home office or your spare room in the basement made way for a home gym. Buuuuut....you’d still like to comfortably accommodate occasional guests while keeping the space looking beautiful and working for you in the way you use it 99.9% of the time. There are some amazing options out there today - definitely worth a look! . And now for some ‘Design Trivia’ to break up your week. Do you know how the Murphy bed came to be? Rumour (or the Smithsonian) has it that William Lawrence Murphy invented it around 1900 for his small San Fran apartment while wooing a young opera singer. At the time, courting customs dictated that a lady could not enter a gentleman’s bedroom. So, he Macguyvered a frame to hide the bed in the wall so that she would instead be entering the ‘parlour’. How clever and resourceful was this guy?
