The Black Atlantic Museum is now live!⠀ ⠀ Designed and built by Pacific, the Black Atlantic Museum website is hosted on the @afterallresearch digital platform Afterall ArtSchool. The project begins to make public a long-term commitment by Afterall to identify, visualize, study and teach the intersections between contemporary art, cultures of the black Atlantic and the liberatory imagination.⠀ ⠀ The Black Atlantic Museum is a Paul Mellon Centre @paulmelloncentr funded digital project. It is based on archival research, commissioned contributions, and conversations. Over several weeks from the 29th of September, Afterall will examine black cultural production and its influence on contemporary art and exhibition histories in the 30 years since the publication of sociologist Paul Gilroy's seminal work 'The Black Atlantic: Modernity and Double Consciousness' (1993).⠀ ⠀ ⠀
