From a young age I was forced to be the strong one in my home, and I’ve continued that trajectory in my chosen family. It’s often self-inflicted pressure or anxiety-induced thinking “If I don’t do it, it won’t get done.” I’m forever a workaholic and a work in progress. Ty to @thejtclist and @chicanadirectorsinitiative for the opportunity to meet the kind soul behind Luisa (@jessdarrow_ ) and many more queer individuals making their mark in this difficult business. My mother surrounded me with queer people growing up and it changed me for the better. I knew they existed shortly after I knew hetero people did, which I believe all children should. They brought color and creativity to the Midwest world I felt was dull. Now, we all get to be that for someone else. 🏳️‍🌈
