31 years ago I arrived in New York full of wonder and big dreams. Before I left Los Angeles, my friend Cris gifted me with a first edition of Marjorie Hollis’ 1939 classic New York: Fair or No Fair - A Guide For the Woman Vacationist, because long before Carrie Bradshaw and my spirit guide Ann Marie of Brewster (#ThatGirl) there were plucky, ambitious, driven, hopeful gals making it happen for themselves in New York City. I didn’t have a job or an apartment but I had an inner resolve I’d never met before nudging me along to take a bold step into my future and the life I wanted. I had a 3-tissue moment when I stumbled on this photo recently from a farewell party and got to tell my younger self: It all worked out. Your dreams came true. Eleanor Roosevelt was right. Everything I wanted was on the other side of fear. Time to dream Bigger Dreams.
