A protest from back in April or March. About 40k people arrived at Daley Plaza I think. I spoke to people, alongside Socialist Alternative, to see how they were feeling and why they came out. Most people said they came because of "everything that's going on" while others were more specific on what affects them specifically. This shows that this issue doesn't stem from just one person sitting in the office or an oppressive bill being passed. The real issues are a consequence of the whole two party capitalist structure that allowed us to get to this point in the first place. We continue to be repressed, as proletariats, by the maintaining of low wages, poor working conditions, the rise in cost of goods, and the criminalization the poor, people of color, queer people, women, and the list goes on. Protesting is effective, but more action needs to be taken to get a better system that benefits all, not just some. A change cannot be accomplished within the same capitalist structure we're currently under.
