Happy Black Breastfeeding Week: One of the most non linear journey’s that I’m so grateful my body allowed me to be on! As a Black mom this was such a special experience for us ... but also one that very rarely looked glamorous! . . . With being able to beautifully & holistically nourish & comfort Sage from my actual body (which is wild to think about) ... the process came with soreness, enlarged - cracked & itchy areolas, engorgement, sleep deprivation, low production stress and the frustration of my nipple being both food source & pacifier. The omission of bodily autonomy and freedom of mobility has been a challenge for me! But overall the experience continues to affirm my divine strength in motherhood and the bond we have been sharing is beyond words. But def looking forward to next transitions ... 😏 . . . ALSO ... REALIZING THAT I NEVER TOOK AN ICONIC TRADITIONALLY BEAUTIFUL & ROYALTY INDUCING BREASTFEEDING PHOTO OF ME & SAGE lol ... the rawness is the beauty 🖤 . . #blackbreastfeedingweek #blackmotherhood
