on the final day of #Pride... it’s less about the work that happened this week to plan and push for all these events and activities to happen and more about the things we do to sustain community and organize for community. we organize in the name of community because of the passion and spirit inside, not to be regarded as ‘exceptional’ or make a name of ourselves. and while notoriety is nice, the flip side that comes with it is never the same. are you really ‘exceptional’ if you’re tired like every other activist and advocate who is actually doing the work for us? (redacted) the message is often, if you don’t like it, create your own or just move on... but i’d like for us to think of issues as issues that we have to counter and challenge together in order to heal more and not have to fight at table set for us and by us. Around this table, we still gotta be pushing to find space and bore in to get shit across. sad, i know. we can organize millions for these spaces and system of fighting for visibility and being taken seriously on this strange land - that doesn’t matter even recognize that trans folks exist - even when the gag is, we’ve been here for a while. with that being said, i don’t know how much more is there for us to get... it’s all an exercise in distillation. in love and liberation 🇯🇲
