Today marks 40 years since iconic Heaven DJ Terrence Higgins passed away. He was the first named person in the UK to die from an AIDS related illness. His partner and friends set up @thtorguk in his name - and the charity continues to do incredible work, four decades on. This is the THT Heart - it’s a symbol of support for the charity, for those living with HIV, and for those whose lives have been touched by HIV and AIDS. My play @cruisetheplay explores a time when contracting HIV was a death sentence - but this is no longer the case. People on effective HIV treatment have a normal life expectancy and cannot pass on the virus; PrEP can keep HIV-negative people HIV-negative; and the UNAIDS & UK government target is to END ALL new HIV cases by 2030. For this to happen, we need to keep the pressure up and continue to raise awareness. SO!
