Posted @withregram • @womeninstreet Happy Friday everyone! Tonight is the last post of my @womeninstreet takeover so I thought I’d bring it back home - literally - to New York. At the beginning of the pandemic (almost two years ago - which somehow seems like yesterday yet also so long ago) I was drawn to photographing what seemed different about the city — the strangeness of it all. Yet as time passed, my eye turned to the things that remained the same, the scenes that anchored us all in normalcy. These images reflect both those views and observations. Beach scenes with kids being kids, an outdoor cafe (with a mask, but lowered) and then the more surreal yet very real moments of the constant paper towel and cleaning supply runs, the Met steps - so empty - which would otherwise be packed with people on a mild almost-spring day, a child taken to play alone by the steps near Lincoln Center (his only companion: his reflection) because the father couldn’t take him to a playground. And the last image was a bit of a joke on the day I took it: March 17, 2020. I think I captioned it “even the yellow m&m seems worried” (from the M&M store in Times Square). It had been week one of the NYC shut down and I think we all thought and hoped it would be a two or three-week thing. But here we are. I wish you all good health, peace and whether you’re a photographer or just someone who loves photography (and female street photographers!) - or both! - keep your eyes, hearts and minds open. Thank you for following along this week and thank you @womeninstreet @caseymeshbesher and @juliacoddington for having me. It was an honor and a pleasure sharing my work here. ❤️❤️ . . . #womeninstreet #womenphotographers #streetlife #everybodystreet #lensculturestreets #nonstopstreet #streetphoto #unposed #observedcollective #streetphotomag #onboooooom #humbleweekendz #creativeboom #nyspc #spc #intheluupe #streetdreamag #spi_bnw #femalephotographers
