This is a hard one. Stephanie was the first person I came out to. Attending an all boys Christian high school, having a friend like her was a necessity.⁣ ⁣ I told her I had a crush on someone, but I made her guess who it was. She asked me a series of questions to which I didn’t have an answer:⁣ ⁣ “Does she have blonde hair?”⁣ ...⁣ “Does she have brown hair?”⁣ ...⁣ “Does she have black hair?” ⁣ ...⁣ “Is she bald??”⁣ ...⁣ “Is she... a boy?” ⁣ ⁣ The immense relief I felt when she was able to put words to an idea I was too scared to express. I don’t know what I would have done without her, and my heart breaks for her amazing family. ⁣ ⁣ She had an amazing voice, she drove me everywhere, and she was the first person to enable my addiction to Taco Bell. ⁣ ⁣ As we enter a historic Pride month for the LGBT+ community, I encourage you to reach out to your high school Judy. They made the space for you to be who you are today. I’ll miss you Steph.
