🇵🇭 Mestiza’s kamayan feast 🇵🇭 @mestizasf is a *new* plant-forward restaurant inspired by Southeast Asian & Filipino flavors by chef Deanna Sison @ladydeesf who’s behind SF favorites like Little Skillet, Victory Hall & Lady Victory. Usually Filipino food is all about meat, so I was a little skeptical. But we had the special opportunity to try their kamayan feast, 🤲🏽 a traditional Filipino communal meal presented on banana leaves & eaten with your hands & the flavors of these dishes really shined through! Highlights included: • lechon bites • calabasa coconut curry • elotes filipinas • shrimp gambas • sweet potato lumpia • whole grilled fish • grilled beef tenderloin with crispy mushrooms • 5 spice jammy eggs • seared japanese eggplant • chicken barbecue • tons of garlic rice, grilled vegetables & more! ✨ It was such a fun way to devour a meal with friends — but get ready to get messy — worth it! 👀 Kamayan feasts need to be booked in advance & can accommodate between 3 & 12 people.
