#Repost @rani_and_reine Featured Artisan: Sapna Sapna holds a beautiful shawl that she designed. In 2019 - I sat with the women of @kullvi_whims and introduced a simple technique to produce a triangular shawl -- the women came back the next day with 9 different shawl samples, each about 12"×8" , and each woman surprised me by having inserted a unique lace pattern into the body of the shawl, and adding borders to the edges. It was magical and impressive, and demonstrated the deep skill and knowledge that they have for their craft. Calculating how to insert lacework into triangles is a complex task, that can bring a designer to tears of frustration (I have personal experience with this 😬😁😁😅). We had expected to start our business with small accessories like hats and mitts - assuming we'd wait to do larger more complex garments. However, since things got pushed back due to the pandemic, and because the women were in lockdown with wool at hand - we decided to use the time to do some more elaborate samples. One of the results was this stunning shawl - I sent the measurements only, and Sapna took up the task, combining various texture and lacework stitches, with a beautiful border. We've incorporated the shawl into our first collection, which launches this Fall. I can tell you I have been wearing this beautiful soft blankety hug of a shawl since it arrived last October! It's a fresh June morning, and I wore it to drop off the kids to school - and I wore it with my coat in the deep winter, and it kept me warm throughout.
