I’ve found that collecting all of my toiletries from hotels and saving them in a giant bag at home like a crazy pack rat gollum-type is SUPER satisfying. Once you have a large enough collection (Smithers hands 😂), you can donate them to your local homeless shelter! Even if the bottles aren’t full, they can be refilled with a different brand of shampoo etc. and are very helpful as they are individual size and can more easily be shared with members of your local shelter! (Plus re-using the bottles is great for the environment 🌱 🌍 and brand new ones provide much deserved, nice self -care products for the unhoused! AND then these products don’t just get thrown away when you leave your hotel. Bonus! Once you donate them no one can call you a low key hoarder of free sh** even if you already know you’re one and don’t care, because you call out your own flaws like Eminem in that scene in 8mile😂. Busy travelers might feel like they’re constantly “living out of a suitcase,” but let’s not forget some individuals don’t have places to live at all, and self care products can improve healthcare and self esteem for those transitioning out of homelessness.
