My name is AnAkA (ah-nah-kah). I call myself an artist, archivist and alchemist. In 2012 I began an original global archive entitled AKTIV8 Archive to preserve the current sacred wisdom movements of our Black and Indigenous elders, healers, artists and liberation movements. The name AKTIV8 is inspired by the process to activate a world where sacred knowledge is empowered and preserved rather than erased. After these past 10 years, I have cultivated a priceless collection of original short films, photographs and soundscapes. Because AKTIV8 Archive has a niche of documenting and empowering communal stories, I have also collaborated with clients such as Nike, State Farm, American Express, AMAKA Studio, and WeTransfer to highlight people who are really making a change in the world. I am additionally a creator of Angel Music, an herbalist, tattoo artist, dancer and curator. These practices all enable me to stay in my highest form as a communicator and channel of my Ancestral memories. Those who have been severed will remember. Those who have been chosen have risen. Ase.
