January 1st. “Another chance.” People say this day is a representation of such. While I couldn’t agree more, I want to press into this ‘phrase’ that has the potential for so much or, for so little. At worst, it could be brushed off and regard for as little as a cliché. At best, it has the ability to change a heart, and, the world. I’m writing this as a message for the person who just needs the chance. Speaking straightforward, I’m going to go quick and concise. It is True that Jesus gives us another chance, and we simply have the option to take it or to not. This chance isn’t given by a stingy god, but rather is given by an inspired God who is full of love and mercy for the lives of people. This message is — God does not forgive us so that “we can learn a lesson” He forgives us so that “HE can hand us redemption.” The fascinating part is that we get to choose whether or not we’ll take it, and if we do, what will we do with it. This new chance is just as redeemable on the first day of the year as it is on the last, (even on a leap year woo 🎉). Every second offers a fresh chance to do something new, make a current move, and to think differently. It’s only a cliché if you allow it to sit there collecting dust instead of picking it up and doing something with it. :) Let us give ourselves the permission to have God-given vision that redeems and lifts up our faces to the light of Him who has gone before us.
