Thank you Signature Bank and @visitdotorg for volunteering with us at the LAX dunes! Collectively, we removed 54 bags of non-native vegetation, totaling 1.36 tons. The biggest bag weighed in at 96.9 pounds! Non-native species removed included iceplant (Carpobrotus edulis) and Geraldton carnation weed (Euphorbia teracina). Check out the before and after photos to see the impact of your volunteering efforts! Wondering what the LAX Dunes are? They are the largest remaining representation of the coastal dune community in Southern California. The 302-acre dune site is owned and managed by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and provides habitat for over 900 species, some of which cannot be found anywhere else on Earth, including the beautiful and delicate federally endangered El Segundo blue butterfly, and other rare plant, animal, and insect species! If your workplace is interested in supporting this restoration and volunteering with us, please get in touch via the link in our bio.
