The exhibition at @cortonaonthemove of “Constant Bloom”, the work in progress of @lucasfogliaphoto on the painted lady butterfly is a perfect example of what it means when I say that the festival is becoming a production hub. Lucas is still working on his project and so we tried to reflect this fact also in how we showed the work. In the beautiful church of San Marco we placed the photographs on the kneelers, where the hymn books or bibles are normally placed by the believers, each photo is printed on a ream of paper so visitors make their selection and sequence and staple it making their own book they can bring home. The exhibition continues outside the church along the Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross). In Cortona the stations are amazing mosaics by the futurist artist #ginoseverini done in 1947. In correspondence to the 14 stations we have placed a selection of large prints in frames designed by the architecture students of the Ryerson University of Toronto who do their semester abroad in Cortona. The dialogue between Lucas and Severini’s work is surprising and at times unsettling. But that’s not all, with our partner @at_toscana , the company that runs the public bus transport in Tuscany, we decided to place a series of the photos on the busses. A moving exhibition around Tuscany! This has been documented by Lucas and, in the coming months, by a series of young Tuscan based photographers.
