In celebration of National Cookie Day, we are sharing Chef Danielle Sepsy’s love of her grandmother’s cookies. “Growing up in a big Italian family, my happiest memories are of cooking with my Grandma Rosemarie. She was selfless and loving, the heart of our family. She filled our home with trays of delicious treats and joy, especially around the holidays, when her kitchen was like a bustling bakery filled with cookies. But when I was in high school, Alzheimer’s started taking away pieces of her. Over the years, it slowly took hold, and by college, I was reintroducing myself to her each time I came home. It was incredibly hard, but her love of cooking and family kept her spirit with us. Today, I bake in her honor, especially her cherished Italian rainbow cookies.”
