The AAM is thrilled to announce that local artist and Museum team member Ron Denessen will be designing a Community Mural at @racketclubwhistler! Featuring the Fitzsimmons River and Whistler's stunning mountains, the mural will be laid out by @rondenessen and painted by community members across three days in September. This project will be completed in stages, with sections to be painted at different events taking place around the opening of 'Out of Control: The Concrete Art of Skateboarding.' For anyone interested in participating, mural painting will be happening at each of the following events: Sunday, September 11, 10:30am-2pm - Skate-Sculpture Workshop with the Zenga Brothers: Learn the tools and techniques used to build skate structures. After assembling two skateable sculptures as a group, the day will end with a skate jam! $30 per person; registration is required. Monday, September 12 - Whistler Racket Club Locals' Night Tuesday, September 13, 3pm-8pm - 'Out of Control' Community Skate Session Featuring Raphaël Zarka: Zarka's 'Paving Space', a series of unique modular sculptures, will be skated by local skateboarding icons. This drop-in style event will include a Pop-Up Museum Shop, @djpraiz, @coastmountainbrewing, BBQ, and more. This is a free event, and registration is required.
