To the SoS Community: Your generosity and enthusiasm have helped us to make a real difference in the lives of people, those currently struggling with mental health issues and those not. As we know, there are always peaks and valleys, stormy weather and sunny days, sad songs and bangers. This year felt like the year we came into our own. When we started SoS a few short years ago, we couldn’t have imagined a summary like the one below — and we could not have achieved any of these goals without your continued support. Thanks to you, this year we: - Launched the pilot program of our therapy fund, which costs for fans of specific artists to see culturally competent therapists across the country for up to 12 sessions - Toured with @courtneymelba’s 14-stop festival @hereandtherefest, providing local and culturally relevant mental health resources to fans all around the country, largely in cities where mental healthcare and education is scarce - Distributed 1000+ wallet-sized cards with local and crisis resources and collected 500+ “Songs That Found Me At The Right Time” cards which made for a playlist over 36 hours long - Continued our video series in partnership with @988lifeline, this year with artists @xeniarubinos, @geesebandnyc, @bartees_strange, @chaiofficialjpn, @thaogetstaydown, @indigosparke, and @melaniecharlesisdflower — with more already in the works for 2023 - Hosted and supported a diverse slate of programming, from @robertglasper’s show at @bluenotenyc supporting the launch of the first iteration of the therapy fund in honor of Meghan Stabile, to a show and discussion on mortality and loss with @katedavismusic at @sparrowfunerals - Established our Youth Advisory Council — under the leadership of @alyssa.goldberg, council members have embarked on self-led projects from designing graphics and producing videos to interviewing prison inmates on what gives them hope We have some exciting plans in the works for 2023 (hint: more concerts and more videos!) that we can’t wait to share.
