If your reps aren’t slowing down, and your first rep looks the same as your last, you’re probably not training hard enough 🤔
For muscle and strength gains, we need to provide an adequate stimulus and train within 4 reps or less from failure. (RPE 6/ 4 RIR)
When we train hard and within close proximity to failure, we start to fatigue and as a result our contraction speed begins to slow down.
When our reps start to slow down, it can be an indication that we are at roughly an RPE 7 / 3 RIR.
This will vary amongst individual but also different exercises!
Film yourself and or pay attention to your rep speed to see if you’re training hard enough. 🫶😘
