What a brilliant book by @Lauren Palphreyman !! Here’s my full review: I absolutely devoured The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman. Five stars, no hesitation. I went in thinking “oh this looks fun” and came out emotionally attached, conflicted, and already choosing sides. This book had me in a chokehold from page one and I genuinely didn’t want it to end. First of all, the world building was so so good. Wolves and humans as long-time enemies, separate kingdoms, layered history, politics, and tension simmering under every interaction. Everything is explained naturally as the story unfolds, with little hints and breadcrumbs that totally pay off later. Aurora (Rory) is such a strong FMC. She’s fiery, opinionated, brave, but still has this innocence and vulnerability that makes her feel very real. Watching her slowly uncover the truth about herself—and that final reveal of her being part wolf—was so satisfying. The signs were there the whole time, hidden in plain sight, and it made the payoff even better. Callum is the obvious choice at first. Protective, warm, loyal, the classic “save the girl” MMC. He’s easy to love, easy to root for, and the chemistry between him and Rory is sweet, swoony, and blush-inducing. It gave me a real kicking my feet kind of romance, but I won’t lie... the moment he locked her in that room and wouldn’t let her leave gave me straight up Tamlin vibes. That possessive streak was meant to be endearing, but it definitely made me pause. And then... Blake walks in. Tall. Dark. Mysterious. Manipulative in a quiet, subtle way. The man is a walking question mark and I was obsessed. The pull between him and Rory and the tension that they brought with each meeting, had be on the edge of my seat. The fact that he shares his life force with her?? Yeah, that was the moment my choice was made of which team I was on. The chemistry and dynamics between all the characters are top tier, and you can feel the love triangle starting to form. It’s messy, dramatic, and I am absolutely here for it. By the time I finished, I immediately needed the next book. The Night Prince is already calling my name, because if this story explodes the way I want it to then I’m excited. #thewolfking #bookreview #thenightprince #fyp #booktok
