I feel so fortunate to be presiding over the Academy at this time, when everyone is dusting themselves off from the pandemic and coming out/showing up big time. The Governors Awards this past weekend really hit that home. It was an evening of pure celebration of revered, beloved individuals from our community. Each of the four recipients – Euzhan Palcy, Peter Weir, Diane Warren, and Michael J. Fox, received rousing applause and standing ovations that I felt were truly genuine. Each gave soulful speeches that had great insight into their lives and work. To have the awards be presented by @violadavis, @thejeffbridges, @cher, and @woodyharrelson respectively, added to the emotion and excitement of the evening. And what a kick, for the first time, I’m on a best dressed list?
