Anni Albers often combined seemingly disparate materials in many of her textiles. Here she paired jute, a coarse plant fiber, with metallic lurex thread to create this textile sample. The open lattice feel of the piece comes from her use of leno weave, a technique she learned from studying the weavings of ancient Peru.
