#Hugman by @nathansawaya is now on display at Wells Fargo Center & Bank of America Plaza.
Hugman likes to hug. It hugs table legs, signposts, bicycle racks, trees, fence posts...anything it can get its arms around.
The Hugman series, created by local artist #NathanSawaya, began as street art in New York City and is inspired by the simple idea of embracing others. Ranging in size from 15 inches tall to 65 inches tall, the brightly colored LEGO® brick sculptures randomly appeared in different locations, surprising people as they passed by. From there, Hugman figures began popping up in cities around the world. Presented by Brookfield Properties, Hugman will now populate Bunker Hill in downtown Los Angeles, embracing the trees, lamp posts, and bike racks at Wells Fargo Center and Bank of America Plaza for one month only!
Nathan Sawaya is a renowned artist who creates awe-inspiring artwork out of a toy. His art focuses on large-scale sculptures created and constructed using only LEGO® bricks. Since his first solo exhibition, Sawaya's artwork has grabbed the attention of art critics and pop culture novices alike. He was the first contemporary artist to ever bring LEGO® into the art world as a medium. In 2014, with the belief that "art is not optional," Sawaya founded The Art Revolution Foundation for the purpose of making art a priority in our schools and our homes. Sawaya lives and works between NYC and LA.
