This weekend, I wrapped up tour stop number three and crossed the finish line of my 33rd marathon, right here at home in New York City. Running this race as a Brooklyn native is never just about the miles. It’s the familiarity mixed with the unexpected emotions that rise up when you’re moving through a place that has witnessed so many versions of you. Sharing this with my husband, @ESnellDesign , this year felt especially meaningful. He is officially a two time marathoner and I’m so honored that he was able to experience the NYC Marathon course. We moved at the pace our bodies offered, shared laughter in the quiet pockets, checked in with each other when things got tough, and let the day be what it needed to be. There’s a tenderness and a power in finding strength through connection, not just momentum. And I have to say — seeing run clubs from across the city and beyond, folks traveling from different states and countries, and the way people stayed out there cheering later and longer than I’ve seen in years — it felt like proof that the culture is shifting. This is the New York City that I know, the one I’ve been advocating for: where every pace, every body, every wave is seen, supported, and celebrated. Thank you to the New York Road Runners, New York City Marathon and the communities, organizers, volunteers, countless run clubs, leaders and neighbors who show up every year and make this feel like a love letter to movement, belonging, and joy. The way this city holds runners — from the Verrazzano all the way to the final stretch in Central Park — is unmatched. Scottsdale, you’re up next for marathon number 34. I can’t wait to do the Every Woman’s Marathon. Philadelphia, we close this tour together. Right now, I’m holding gratitude — for this body, this partnership, this community, and the privilege to keep showing up. Photos by Kristina Williamson
