Please forgive the hyper-earnest millennial caption ahead: being featured in @shopmy’s Favorite Things magazine was such a sweet end-of-year surprise. It’s genuinely an honor to be included alongside creator and tastemaker powerhouses like @sofiagrainge and @things.i.bought.and.liked. A dream!
Comment “LINK” and I’ll DM you the virtual magazine. #ShopMysFavoriteThings
This time last year, I was feeling pretty downtrodden. I shared in my newsletter that I’d had a “just okay” year. I’d recently crossed the one-year mark of motherhood and was only just starting to feel like myself again (read: sleeping more than four consecutive hours). Professionally, I felt lost, and honestly, irrelevant.
I watched so many creators, writers, and influencers shine while I quietly faded. After downsizing my first media business, I wasn’t sure what I had left to offer. Who was I to keep going? I’m boring! I lack charisma! I’m not cool and I don’t live in NYC! On top of all that, I wasn’t feeling particularly ambitious. I made no big goals last year, which was perhaps my way of easing back into the world after the shock of becoming a parent.
This year felt different. Toward the end of 2025, my ambition thawed. My energy flickered back on. I wrote down a few goals and somehow managed to achieve them (and then some). Even so, I still felt slightly behind the times, like a forgotten relic of the girlboss pre-COVID era.
Which is why I feel honored and a little flabbergasted at being asked to be part of @shopmy’s first-ever Favorite Things print magazine. ShopMy has hanged the game for the creator economy, and it’s changed the game for my own career at a moment when I felt a little lost and unsure.
I feel incredibly lucky that people (maybe you, reading this!) seem to care what I have to say and recommend. I try to approach my work with thoughtfulness, integrity, and respect for my audience, and I hope that comes through. (1/2, cont’d in comments)
