Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition that affects many patients. It’s a silent disease where your body attacks its own hair follicles which causes patches of hair loss. It can be challenging to treat and is something we see in our offices often. In men, we often see patchy beard growth which they often miss. In women, it can be patchy loss of hair in the scalp or eyebrows. In severe cases, patients elect to shave their heads when nothing else works. With increased conversation around #alopeciaareata, it’s important to remember the emotional toll these types of diseases can take. ⁣ ⁣ In the above, our patient was planning on getting married and we had to get creative in order to help fast.
