No Thanks, No Giving! A Decolonization of Thanksgiving is as impossible because it is one of the foundational Myths upon which the American colonial project is built. We don't care about how organic and locally sourced your cranberry sauce is. We don't care if you symbolically "acknowledge" that the table you're feasting on is stolen. We don't care about how many tokens you brought to the table to redwash your guilt away. We don’t care who you voted for to sit and feast at that table or about honoring old pieces of paper with dead words that our ancestors were forced to sign. Settler colonialism is first and foremost about land and power, no amount of "acknowledgements" are going to change that. Pass the gravy? How about flipping the table and joining us in the fight to liberate our lands and people? We're not interested in woke settler colonialism. We’re not here to perform for the white gaze or beg for recognition because this day, this time, this month, is set aside to address how fucked up the ongoing experience of surviving as Indigenous Peoples are in the midst of devastation upon devastation and crisis upon crisis... this is thanksgiving... this is colonialism.. This is and always has been war. Some of us choose to fast on this day. Some of us recognize a day of mourning. And still many of us continue to fight back and forward...
