Love is always a risk worth taking. Olive was a sweet little soul who stole my heart the moment she trotted into my life. I had hoped for many years of adventures together, but our short six months became a gift I will always treasure. She taught me how to love again after losing my dog Max, and she brought comfort during a time when our city felt heavy and uncertain. Olive’s journey was extraordinary. Rescued from a dog meat farm in Korea, where she had been used for breeding, she arrived in my life healthy, happy, and full of spirit. A few months later, we learned she had heartworms. And just days ago, we discovered a mass on her spleen that was terminal. I am grateful I could give her what she had never known before—soft beds, gentle hands, endless walks, and a love that celebrated every part of her. She was bright and quick to learn, adored her training sessions, and loved to play. I’ll always remember the little song I used to sing to her: Pretty little Olive, I really love you.
