Posted @jayceeisalive 🚨USA Curling DEI Task Force Statement🚨 October 12, 2022 Following the release of the Yates Report detailing abusive behavior and sexual misconduct in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), it has become clear that actions (or inaction) taken by USA Curling CEO Jeff Plush during his time as Commissioner of NWSL demonstrate that he cannot be trusted to prioritize the safety and well-being of athletes in this organization. Further, the continued inaction and poor communication by the USA Curling Board of Directors (BOD) places additional strain on the curling community. Together, the collective response has eroded the trust of the curling community in the institutions charged to protect us. In its charter, the scope of the DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Task Force, an internal committee serving USA Curling, states that “we will work collaboratively to study best practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and advocate for inclusive policies and practices” in working towards a more inclusive sport. As current and former members of the DE&I Task Force, we feel it is our duty to make the following recommendations for the safety of curlers and to regain trust within our sport.
