Six years ago, @ellenrisemberg and I spent 22 days hiking from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney along a route commonly known as the John Muir Trail. We switchbacked our way over 6 major passes, climbed roughly 47,000 feet of vert, and consumed countless clif bars along 210+ miles of the most truly stunning terrain I’ve ever seen. Thru-hiking the JMT was far from a walk in the park, but lately I’ve been thinking about the sunny parts: lazy hours by alpine lakes, quiet time off the grid, strangers turned trail family, the sweet smell of summertime up high, and the feeling of accomplishment at the end of each day. More than anything, I remember a sense of wonder at all the magical places our little feet can take us, and a reminder that the only way to get anywhere is to keep putting one foot in front of the other. 📍 Indigenous Lands — Nüümü Poyo / “The People’s Trail”
