Casa Carlos! AD100 designer Carlos Mota is an international man around many a town, with homes in Lisbon, the Dominican Republic, and New York City, shown here. His jet setting ways suggested it was time to downsize in Manhattan, but when he moved from a spacious Chelsea apartment to this 700 square foot one uptown, he didn’t give up any of his signature colorful, more-is-more style. “Your eye goes everywhere: boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,” says @casamota of the living room, where antiques and objects collected all over the world merrily mingle against walls of labor-intensive pink stucco Veneziano - “very expensive for a rental,” admits Mota, who did a green version of the same treatment in the bedroom. “It’s very Carlos,” laughs Mota. “A room is successful when you walk in and you don’t want to leave. This is my cave, a cozy little cave. Sometimes I don’t tell anyone that I’m in town - I just do my work, sleep, and I’m off again.” Full story in January AD and linked in bio. 📷 @simonuptonphotos design @casamotachic text @mrmitchowens 💥💥
