In 2004 I signed up for the New York Marathon having never run a mile. Now, 18 years and 75 marathons later, I am gearing up to run the London Marathon again. Challenging and sometimes quite gruelling, I find Marathons to be particularly special, embracing all ages, all cultures, and all abilities. I think running as a disabled athlete at these events enables people to see that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.
Seiko Prospex celebrates the message of 'Keep Going Forward' without giving up, an ethos that I hold close to my heart during these training periods. I started training for the London Marathon wearing the limited edition 1964 Speedtimer re-creation because it represents the athletes who have gone before me. This watch is inspired by the technical instruments from the 1964 Tokyo Olympics when Seiko were asked to become timekeepers for the first time, sparking a future in timekeeping - and I hope it spurs me on to go even further forward on the day!
