our new favorite at home cocktail. 5 ingredients plus our barrel aged soy sauce makes for the ultimate spirit forward and savory drink. plus, our beverage director shares a simple syrup pro hack that we love. ingredients — * 2 oz bourbon * 1/2 oz barrel aged soy syrup OR 1 barspoon simple syrup and 4-5 shakes of barrel aged soy sauce * 3 dashes angostura orange bitters for barrel aged soy syrup — * dark brown sugar: 1/2 cup, packed * demerara sugar: 1/2 cup * distilled water: 1 cup * barrel aged soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
in case you didn’t get your hands on our now sold out barrel aged soy sauce, you can swap that with our soy sauce or tamari.
—
if you’re making our barrel aged soy syrup, place all ingredients in a blender and blend until fully incorporated. this is a great trick and alternative to making a simple syrup, which normally requires heat. once your syrup is made, build all the ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice and mix. pour over a large ice cube in an old fashioned glass and serve with a citrus peel.

you can also choose to opt out of the barrel aged soy syrup and build your drink with the bourbon, 1 bar spoon of simple syrup, bitters, and 4-5 shakes (about 1/2 teaspoon) of barrel aged soy sauce. then add ice and mix. also pour over a large ice cube in an old fashioned glass and serve with a citrus peel.
