#AHEADJournal Our October issue of California: A Journal covers Mark Adams who spent the latter half of his career capturing the fleeting effects of light on plain objects (a glass of water, a metallic bowl) with vivid expanses of color segmented by a shadow that stretches across the canvas, as if to remind us of the encroaching dark. These quiet, reflective paintings had a public start with murals in MacArthur station BART and stained glass designs for Temple Emanu-El in Presidio Heights and Grace Cathedral in Nob Hill.
