This first image of @touuraya was just shortlisted for the 2022 Communication Arts Photography Annual @communicationarts. I couldn’t be more excited about this, as 2,241 images were submitted, 438 entries were shortlisted, and two of my images were selected! Its a huge honor and a nod from the industry of recognition of amazing work. - I realized I had never shared this image, one of my favorite portraits in my portfolio, as well as many other images from this editorial w/ @notion, so here ya go. This shoot came about when @kyliegovinchuck and I set out to put together a shoot that captured the feeling of a soiree with a mix of fun, gossip, and overall sophistication. We wanted strong and bold imagery that tied into a fun and quirky story. Thank you so much to the entire team that made this happen, y’all are rockstars. - I won’t dive into the lighting too much for the entire set, but here’s the breakdown of the first image. Swipe to see the BTS. We tried a couple of different ways for lighting this scene, from shooting light through the windows to experimenting with an on-camera flash. Ultimately, we ended up placing a Westscott FJ400 in the corner of the room and bouncing it to camera left to enhance the natural window light, and we also used a silver beadboard as a fill card to camera right.
