New intro time! Hi! My name is Rachel Ziegler, and I’m a full-time photographer, activist, and bird mom to two rescued doves. I’ve been a photographer for a year and a half now, and I have my own photography business, specializing in portraits, candids, and nightclub photography, as well as weddings and various other types of events. I never went to school for any of it, I just picked up a camera and started learning as I went. I live in a studio apartment in downtown San Francisco, CA. I moved to California 5 years ago from Brooklyn, NY to get more involved with activism, and did that full time for about two years. Part of my motivation for becoming a photographer was always to be able to use it to document injustices - whether that’s documenting mother pigs trapped inside farrowing crates on factory farms, or climate activists risking their freedom to demand action be taken to save our planet. It’s very important for me to be an active participant in making the world a better place - one with less suffering and more equity for all. I am currently facing “criminal” charges for some of the acts of civil disobedience that I’ve taken part in over the years. My favorite foods are vegan Mexican food, chocolate & peanut butter. I particularly love EDM and modern folk music, and am obsessed with the show American Horror Story. It’s actually a big inspiration for my editing and shooting style.
