This past weekend was sooo fun! Thank you @carl_hayden_ high school for inviting us to your book fair this past Friday. It was great to see students be able to get whatever books they wanted for FREE and that the books they saw had people that looked like them in them. Definitely beats the book fairs I attended as a kid who couldn’t afford the books and the options were not diverse. Thank you for collaborating on this book fair event @azhumanities @phoenixpubliclibrary @grassrootzbookstore @barriobookmobile it was great to see everyone. And special shout-out to @zaya_arte for your help during this event. And shout-out to the students busting out with the guitar and playing corridos. Wish I could have done that at my high school, lucky.. :) The next day on Saturday I got to spend the afternoon at the @arizonaenglishteachers association conference with our @nurture__house neighbor Charissa from @wastedinkzinedistro and we met awesome educators that were excited to learn about books & zines for their students. We are looking to build community connections with schools and districts and hope to supply schools with our books by BIPOC authors.
